Just as the butterfly must struggle to shed its cocoon, we all have to struggle to climb out of failure and into success. In fighting its way out of the cocoon, the butterfly develops muscles that it will need to fly. I once heard a man describe trying to help a butterfly get free of its cocoon. He took a knife and cut the cocoon away. The butterfly came out, but then died right before his eyes! That butterfly needed – and we all need – the struggle to achieve. The great Russian novelist Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn once said, “Even biology teaches us that habitual well-being is not favorable to life.” We all need to struggle our way into success. Striving to succeed will always be part of achieving your Why. When we don’t have struggles or obstacles to overcome, we become complacent, lazy and passive.
My coaching student that wrote the Why statement that you read earlier certainly understands that. That’s the reason that she began her Why by saying, “The reason why I am dealing with all the challenges. . . ” She didn’t flinch at the possibility of obstacles. She embraced them. Just settle it in your mind that you will have challenges, you will have obstacles and you will have hurdles—no question about it!
That same champion student also uses the words, “I actually see…” This is a critically important key in the process of overcoming the problems. You must SEE yourself successful, and you must SEE yourself achieving your Why. That’s why many successful sports trainers make their students visualize the golf ball rolling into the cup, the basketball swooshing the net, the arrow hitting the core of the target, etc. If you see it, you can do it. If you can’t see yourself (visualize) achieving your Why, then your belief in your Why is not strong enough. The discovery of your Why is a great milestone in your life. You will change, and you will improve yourself. Your interests will change, and you will expand. You will enjoy life even more than you already do. In order for this to happen, you must invest in yourself, face the problems and see yourself achieving your Why.
17 Highly-Guarded Strategies to Close Every Sale – Strategy #8: Shotgun Versus Sniper (1 of 2)

No, I’m not talking about the military. Listen up…Everyone walks into sales presentations like a shotgun. They try to blow up their prospects with tons of information, details, statistics and other useless knowledge. The presentation is not structured and takes too much time. The tactic is to confuse them to close them. Unfortunately, there are many sales managers that teach this tactic and it’s completely unethical. I can guarantee you that anyone that teaches or uses that type of closing strategy does not have long-lasting, profitable relationships.
Instead, be a sniper during your presentation. Know exactly what you need to cover briefly in order to close the sale and open the relationship. Share with them just enough to pique
their interest and generate questions. If you expect to handle every objection and every concern during your presentation, you are wasting your time. You can handle the majority of them, but there’s simply no way that you will be able to tackle every question and concern during the initial presentation.
Unlike a shotgun, a sniper will focus in and take one shot at their target. No, I’m not saying to annihilate your customer, but you have to be as focused as a sniper on your ultimate goal. Your target is to close every sale and open up a long-term prosperous relationship. You don’t want to just confuse the daylights out of the person, close the sale and move on to the next victim. Once again, that’s unethical and no way to build a prosperous business.
Here’s a bonus for you. Most sales presentations should be limited to one hour. Yes, that’s only 60 minutes in which you will present your business/product for the first 30 minutes. The remaining 30 minutes will be completely devoted to any questions or concerns voiced by your customer. After you finish your presentation, ask them, “What did you like best about it?” This empowers the person to speak positively about our presentation. This is their time so just let them talk and ask questions. You basically shut-up and listen at this point.
THE POWER OF THE A-Z PRESENTATION

Over the last decade of being a professional home-based networker, when someone asks me, “John, what is the #1 reason why people fail in their own network marketing business?” I say with 110% confidence it is because they customize their presentations assuming what each individual prospect will find exciting. This mindset will definitely set you up for failure!
The key to success is the power of duplication — showing the same presentation over and over. You need to be presenting the entire business from A-Z to each and every one of your prospects because you have no idea what is going on inside them as you share the business. You must show your business exactly the same way each time you present your program for two primary reasons:
Reason #1 is you will be 100% full of confidence & conviction knowing what you are going to say because you have presented the entire plan from A-Z numerous times the SAME EXACT WAY. Repetition is the mother of skill. Your nervousness will also decrease, because you will become confident in your presentation.
Reason #2 is because I can almost guarantee you that when you begin to put this into practice you will have your prospects respond to aspects of your business that you would have assumed they would not have been interested in before. You will see your business explode within a short period of time. Just imagine everyone in your network internalizing this mindset and fully understanding the power of an A-Z presentation. The leadership abilities within them will skyrocket, which in turn will create momentum in your business.
Momentum is a force that you will not be able to control; it is also the key to unprecedented growth in your business. Leadership is earned by people who deserve it and you will project leadership when you present with the “Power of A-Z”. Always remember, it is just a matter of time before you hit your target when you keep aiming for it!
GOALS

The theme for this week’s newsletter is GOALS. In order to achieve a goal, you must first have one! The key to hitting your target is that you must first have a specific one to hit. If you ask 100 people where they will be in five years, 95% of people will respond that they do not know!
The majority of people fail at building business, because they have a 2-5 hour mindset versus a 2-5 year plan. When someone sets a goal for five years from now and takes into consideration that they will have many ups and downs on that journey, they will never quit because they KNOW what they are working toward. Want proof? Just ask any successful person where they want to be in five years and they will tell you exactly where they want to be with an unmistakable passion in their eyes.
Personal goals are what drive you every day toward where you want to be. I ask you right now, “What are your goals? Do you have them written down? Do you have a goal partner?” A goal partner is someone who you share your goals with. The more you vocalize your goals, the more your mind believes you will achieve them. Sadly, most people do not write their goals down, nor do they find a goal partner. People without goals are lost souls just wandering back and forth to their jobs every day in anticipation of FRIDAY. (Re-read that sentence a few times because it SAYS IT ALL!)
Today I invite you to change your immediate mindset. Take action! Set some goals! Write them down and tell a friend (goal partner) who believes in you.
I often teach on the concept of “addition by subtraction”. Most people have many “friends” but have no goal partners. Often your “friends” will laugh at your goals and dreams. You need to delete this negativity from your life because it is TOXIC! When you subtract this negativity from your life, then you add to your chance of actually accomplishing your goals and ultimately achieving your “Why” in life.
THE POWER OF A SCOPE

We all know the power of a scope if you need to focus in on a target and hit it. We all need to develop and truly understand the power of the human mind’s scope. All of us have inside of us the potential to be as powerful as the most high-tech laser scope available today. A scope is designed to focus in on a target without getting distracted or losing focus in order to hit its target right on the bull’s eye. Now remember that all mechanical scopes are programmed by human technology and if we can do it for machines, we can do it for ourselves.
As you are progressing each day on your journey to your ultimate outcome in life, you need to stay 110% focused on your target. You need to focus in on your WHY in life and not be distracted by all the other negative noise we all hear each day in this negative world. You are 1000% more advanced in your focus just by reading this article today, because most people stop personal development as soon as their formal education stops. I always say formal education will get you a job, but self-education will enable you to design a life you want to live!
Your personal scope in life can be finely tuned each day based on the people you associate with along with your personal commitment to personal development. As you develop your mind, you will be able to stay focused on your target and hit it right in the bull’s eye. I am a true believer in the daily focusing of your sniper, which is a minimum of 15 minutes of personal development per day. This can be done by listening to audiotapes or by reading written materials, which will empower you and improve your results.
I personally invest two hours each day for my own personal development in life. The outcome of your internal scope in life is ultimately determined by how you fine-tune it each day. You need to ask yourself an honest question, “Am I doing all I can do to hit my target (your WHY) in life by enhancing each and every day the input to my human scope?” If the answer is “no”, then take action now and change your life forever!
